7 hot Pokemon Go zones in Singapore and where to catch rare Pokemon

Fans of Pokemon Go have fanned out across Singapore in search of the critters and to conquer “gyms” – real-life locations where players can hold and defend against other players – after Saturday’s (August 6) launch.

The Republic’s small size and urban environment mean that gyms and Pokestops – locations where players can get virtual items – are never far away. For Pokemon Go enthusiasts travelling to Singapore, here are some to plan your trip around:

Tourist attractions

Whether it’s the Singapore Zoo, Marina Bay Sands (above) or Gardens by the Bay, developer Niantic has aspiring Pokemon trainers well covered.

They are all home to plenty of Pokestops and gyms, but expect crowds as both tourists and local Pokemon Go fans throng these areas.

Over at Resorts World Sentosa, players can enjoy special admission discounts into S.E.A. Aquarium (above) and Universal Studios Singapore from August 9-14, or stick around at Pokestops outside these attractions for lures released by the management.

With over 70 Pokestops spanning the resort, the trip is likely to be worth it. Especially for those yearning to capture rare Pokemon like Electabuzz, Tentacruel and Magneton, which we hear have been sighted there.
