Game of Thrones Season 6 finale: 10 highlights from ‘The Winds of Winter’

The winds of winter are rising, and at this point, it’s hard to tell how to exactly stop it. Yes, with season 6 of ‘Game of Thrones’ finally coming to an end, there are more revelations, dragons and explosion in the last episode of ‘GoT’. The sixth season of ‘Game of Thrones’ came to an end on June 26 with the finale titled ‘The Winds of Winter’. The episode was shrouded in mystery and new puzzles were created. Season 6 did not shy away from its tradition of ruthlessly killing characters but was also a season of shocking comeback. “When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. There is no middle ground.” Here are the top 10 highlights of episode 10 of ‘Game of Thrones’.
1.Cersei goes wild

There were rumours of Cersei using the wildfire to incinerate her enemies and she did exactly that at the start of the episode. It was one of the most intense scenes of ‘Game of Thrones’. Lancel Lannister (Eugene Simon) failed to thwart the plan and became the first victim of the wildfire explosion.
2.Attack of the birds

Grand Maester Pycelle (Julian Glover) dies in the last episode of season 6 of ‘Game of Thrones’. He is betrayed by Maester Qyburn (Anton Lesser) and stabbed to death by his little birds. The scene is straight out of ‘A Dance With Dragons’, the fifth book in George R.R.Martin’s novel.
3.King’s landing

Cersei’s play at mass murder leads inevitably to the death of her final remaining child, King Tommen, as well (fulfilling that prophecy a witch gave her during her childhood). Tommen, who was unable to live with what Cersei had done and jumped out a window, is the third king on the Iron Throne to die during the course of the series, after his “father” Robert Baratheon in season one and his brother Joffrey in season four.

4.Arya Stark assassinates

Another one to die in the last episode of Season 6 will be Walder Frey (David Bradley), who will be assassinated by Arya Stark. Arya uses her faceless skills to infiltrate the twins.
5.Dreams of Littlefinger

Littlefinger wants ‘everthing’ and he made this clear many episodes ago. But in the finale of season 6, he makes his ambition more specific. Littlefinger wants to sit on the Iron Throne with Sansa Stark by his side. With Sansa stealing the show in ‘Battle of the Bastards’, you never know if this happens as well.
